Our Aim

WHISH is a parent led support group, whose aim is to give families positive experiences & support in living with hidden Impairments. Hidden Impairments include Autism, Dyspraxia, Epilepsy, ADHD & many others.

We offer a wide range of activities for children, including swimming, games, riding, social groups and many others. Most of our activities are free and the whole family is welcome at all events.

Parents' Support

For parents, we have a range of activities including regular coffee mornings, drop-in sessions as well as sign language training & art therapy. Most of our activities are free and the whole family is welcome at all events.

Multi-sensory Centre

The WHISH Multi-sensory centre is available for use by the whole community in the Whitby area, individuals and groups.

Our Members say...

“Our daughter has sensory issues and we have used the room as a family. It’s great to give her the space to explore.”

“Always very relaxing.”

“I need to get my son here more regularly, especially during the summer holidays.”

“AMAZING!!”

“This allows my son to relax & explore all his sensory needs.”

“Absolutely Brilliant, I wish Whitby had had one of these when my children were younger. The boys both get a lot out of it. My eldest loves the ball pool, and the younger one likes the big spinning dish.”

“Love how this helps a couple of my kids to relax & calms them down.”

“It’s very reassuring to know that there is always this safe and calm space when needed.”

“Both boys love the room. In particular it’s nice for my son to play in a safe allergen free environment.”

“This is very important for my Autistic boy; he gets so much relief from the room.”
